Hey everyone... I guess you all are liking my articles. As I mentioned before also that I love dancing. I am in Punjab so this time I decided to write about Punjabi Dance. What us Dance? Dancing is the movement of Body in a rhythmic way with music. Every country or state has its own Dancing style. I would love to discuss with you all about our Punjabi dances.
Punjab is known for its rich traditional Folk Dance and Music. There are a plethora of folk dances that have been found across Punjab including Bhangra, Gidda which are immensely popular amongst all dance forms of Punjabi Folk dance. Let's discuss few Folk Dances.
BHANGRA
Bhangra is the most famous dance form in Punjab and across the world. Wherever we go that is our trademark dancing style with us. Bhangra is originated in the Majha area of Punjab.
This dance form is associated with the harvesting season of Punjab and traditionally performed during the festival of Vaisakhi. The Bhangra outfit is a Lungi, kurta and buttonless jacket and women who perform Bhangra wear traditional Salwar Kameez. This dance form is performed during all the important functions across Punjab. The rhythm of dhol will compel you to dance.
GIDDHA
Giddha is performed by women in Punjab. It displays the vigour and vitality of Punjabi's women. It is a colourful dance form where a group of women wear colour traditional Punjabi dresses and dance together. While performing the Giddha "Boli" or " Boliyan" is being sung with it.
SAMMI
It is also being performed by the women of Punjab. While performing this dance form women wear colourful clothes such as Kurta and Lehenga. This dance form is popular in the Sandalbar area of Punjab, Pakistan.
JHOOMER
This dance form is known for its vigour and passion. This dance form originated in the Multan and Balochistan region and gradually became popular across Punjab. The meaning of the word " Jhoom" is swaying slowly. This dance form is slow and rhythmic in nature. The performers mostly focus on love and emotions while dancing. This dance is very popular among Punjab folk dances and is known for its.
